Allah ﷻ states in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:185): "The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for humanity and clear proofs of guidance and criterion." Furthermore, in Sahih al-Bukhari (6), it is authentically narrated that the Angel Jibril (Gabriel) would meet the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ every single night of Ramadan to review and study the entire Quran with him. Reciting the Book of Allah in Ramadan connects you directly with this prophetic tradition.
When Ramadan arrived, the righteous predecessors (al-Salaf al-Salih) would pause non-essential academic circles to dedicate their days and nights almost exclusively to the Quran. Imam Malik (rahimahullah) would set aside teaching Hadith to recite from the Mushaf. Imam Al-Shafi'i and others would complete multiple recitations throughout the blessed month, balancing mindful recitation with night prayers (Qiyam and Taraweeh).
The Prophet ﷺ encouraged reciting with tartil (measured, beautiful recitation) and warned against hasty reading that fails to penetrate the heart. Scholars unanimously advise that reading one Juz with contemplation, understanding, and presence of mind is far superior to rushing through multiple Ajza' without grasping the divine counsel. Choose a pace that elevates your faith.
There are 14 or 15 verses of Sajdah in the Quran (indicated in the 30-day matrix with a ۩ icon). When coming across one of these verses, it is a recommended Sunnah to say Allahu Akbar and prostrate once, saying: "Sajada wajhiya lilladhi khalaqahu wa sawwarahu wa shaqqa sam'ahu wa basarahu bihawlihi wa quwwatih" (My face has prostrated to the One Who created it, fashioned it, and brought forth its hearing and sight by His might and power).
