  • Do NOT cut hair, trim nails, or shave any body hair.
  • Do NOT apply perfumes, scented soaps, or scented lotions.
  • Men: Do NOT wear stitched clothes (trousers, shirts, underwear) or cover the head with hats/caps.
  • Women: Do NOT wear Niqab or gloves (face and hands remain uncovered, standard modest clothing allowed).
  • Do NOT engage in marital relations, argumentations, hunting, or cutting trees in the Haram boundary.

⚠️ Common Mistakes & Critical FAQs

Crossing the Miqat without Ihram (Passing Miqat in Flight)
Mistake: Waiting until landing in Jeddah or Makkah before wearing Ihram.
Correction: Air travelers MUST wear Ihram garments before boarding or change in flight prior to reaching the Miqat airspace (flight announcement will warn travelers). If crossed without Ihram, a penalty sacrifice (Dam) is required.
Trimming Hair before Animal Sacrifice (Hadi) on Eid Day
Mistake: Cutting hair immediately after stoning Jamarat al-Aqaba without confirming sacrifice.
Correction: For Hajj Tamattu' & Qiran, the sunnah sequence is: 1) Stone Jamarat al-Aqaba, 2) Perform Hadi sacrifice, 3) Shave/Trim hair (Halq/Taqsir) to exit first Ihram (Tahallul Asghar).
Leaving Arafat Before Sunset on 9th Dhul Hijjah
Mistake: Depart Arafat early during daytime.
Correction: Remaining in Arafat until after sunset is Wajib. Departing before sunset requires returning before sunset or incurring a penalty (Dam).
Performing Farewell Tawaf (Tawaf al-Wada') Early
Mistake: Performing Farewell Tawaf days before departure and returning to hotel/shopping.
Correction: Farewell Tawaf must be the VERY LAST action in Makkah immediately before leaving for the airport or traveling home.
