Yawm at-Tarwiyah — Departure to Mina
Pilgrims enter the state of Ihram from their accommodations in Makkah and proceed to Mina before Dhuhr. They offer Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr of the 9th, shortening four-unit prayers to two units without combining.
- Purification (Ghusl), donning Ihram garments & reciting Talbiyah.
- Spending the night in Mina in contemplation and supplication.
Yawm 'Arafah & Overnight at Muzdalifah
The pinnacle and essence of Hajj ("Al-Hajju 'Arafah"). Pilgrims move from Mina to Mount Arafat after sunrise.
