Traditional Hifz Guidelines & Golden Rules
1. The 20x Repetition Rule (Daily Sabaq)
▼
Before reciting your new daily lesson (Sabaq) to your teacher, recite the assigned page 20 times looking at the Mushaf until visual memory is solid, then 20 times completely from memory. Never present a weak Sabaq.
2. The 3-Tier Hifz System (Sabaq, Sabqi, Manzil)
▼
Successful Hifz requires balancing three distinct layers every single day:
• Sabaq: Today's new memorization target.
• Sabqi (Sabaq Para): Reviewing the last 5 to 10 pages memorized (crucial while memory is fresh).
• Manzil (Muraja'ah): Rotating systematic review of older memorization (e.g., 1 Juz daily).
• Sabaq: Today's new memorization target.
• Sabqi (Sabaq Para): Reviewing the last 5 to 10 pages memorized (crucial while memory is fresh).
• Manzil (Muraja'ah): Rotating systematic review of older memorization (e.g., 1 Juz daily).
3. Muraja'ah Priority Rule ("Retention over Expansion")
▼
If time is constrained on any given day, always prioritize Muraja'ah (revision) over acquiring new Sabaq. Preserving what you have already memorized is far more important than adding new pages on top of weak foundations.
4. Peak Mental Clarity (Fajr Time)
▼
The early hours after Fajr prayer provide maximum cognitive focus and spiritual barakah. Dedicate early mornings to new Sabaq, and use evening hours for Sabqi and Manzil revision.
